Frequently Asked Questions

How much does each session cost, and do you accept insurance?

My standard rate for a 50-minute session is $125. I offer a limited number of sliding scale rates as low as $75 for a 50-minute session. At this time, I am able to accept Aetna or Cigna insurance and can check on your coverage after our initial phone consult. For any other insurance network, I can offer you a Super Bill for you to submit to your own insurance for reimbursement. We can discuss all your options in our initial consultation call.

How long is each therapy session and how often will we have sessions?

Typically, I see clients for 50-minute sessions weekly. Every once in a while, I have couples who like to have 80-minute sessions since there are more people in the therapeutic space and more time is needed each week. I like to see clients on a weekly basis as that allows us to build trust in the therapeutic relationship. It also allows more momentum for you, the client, to make gains on your goals. As we start meeting goals, some clients wish to move into a maintenance schedule for sessions which is typically done on a bi-weekly or monthly basis.

Do you offer virtual or in person therapy?

I am now offering in person options on Mondays in Austin, TX. I also offer virtual sessions for clients residing in Texas.

What are your hours?

I have a flexible schedule, seeing clients Monday-Friday 11AM-7PM, depending on the day and available openings.

What kinds of client do you see?

I see adult individuals and couples, ages 18 and older. I typically see clients in the Austin area, but am happy to provide teletherapy to any client living in the state of Texas. I do not contract for service with anyone currently involved in a legal dispute, an open CPS investigation, or who has been mandated to therapy by a court of law.

What should I expect in the first therapy session?

In our first session, we will review your client contract, which includes a confidentiality agreement. As the session proceeds, I will ask some background questions to get a better sense of who you are as a person. This includes information about your concerns and goals for therapy, your medical health, social history, work history, identity, and romantic life. This process can last multiple sessions as we dive into who you are as a person and your expectations for therapy. My goal is to build a therapeutic relationship as quickly as possible so that you can achieve your goals.

Do you assign homework or suggest activities between sessions?

Each therapeutic relationship is so unique, I don’t have a blanket statement about homework or activities between sessions for individuals. If this is something you would like, I will incorporate it into our sessions.

If you are coming in for couples therapy, I absolutely will give homework and activities to complete between sessions. It’s very important for couples to work on the relationship outside of therapy to see best results.

How will we measure progress in therapy?

Again, each therapeutic relationship is so unique, so this is done in various ways. Sometimes, we will use standard assessments to measure progress. Other times, we will check-in periodically on all your goals to see how well we are achieving the goals you have set out for therapy. Therapy is a long and in-depth process that requires patience, self-reflection, and lots of uncomfortable moments as you evolve.
